I was told a story that relates to my business and to some extent, to my personal life, I hope you can relate.
This story takes place with a King who prepares a wedding banquet for his son. The king (opportunity) sends out his servants to all who were invited to come to the banquet, but they refused. Later the King sent out more servants to tell the invited that “there is much to eat, the best meat, the best wine and much reward for attending the banquet.” The invited paid no attention to the requests. Some of the invited went off to do their own things, but others seized the Kings servants, mistreated them, and killed them. The King was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, “The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.” The servants went out and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad. The wedding hall was filled with guests. When the King came in to see the guests, he noticed a man who was not dressed for the occasion. “Friend,” he asked, “how did you get in here without wedding clothes?” The man was speechless. Then the King told the attendants, “tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness. Many are invited, but few are chosen.
How many times have we invited people into opportunity, only to have them show up without the right attitude?

Success Boot Camp – Day #2: Stop Wasting Your Time and Money On Biz-Opp Leads! Yesterday I revealed one of the core concepts behind Successful Sponsoring: Selling “How to build with a drill” before trying to sell the drill itself. The next thing we need to do is realize that… “Network Marketing is an industry of marketing and promotion, pursued by people who have no idea how to market or promote.” Ironic isn’t it? But that is the simple truth. 90% of networkers are employees with no business ownership experience what-so-ever. This explains a lot doesn’t it!? This is also why so many upline leaders teach the “shot gun” approach of making your 100 list, getting information to them, and seeing who sticks… Anyone can do that. You don’t need any marketing skills at all. And you know what???? Screw that. You deserve to know the truth and have an opportunity to learn and move forward, than just mail out 100 CD with your fingers crossed. It’s real simple, but this is the cold hard truth… The only reason you’re told to make a list and give CD’s or your website to 100 people is that your upline knows that you’ve only got about 1 or two weeks of “pumped up” emotional enthusiasm about your new business and then the likely-hood that you’ll ever do anything drops down to about 10% or less. That’s what happens when you recruit the masses with some hot new biz opp or product. But that’s fine because if they have a team of 2,000 reps, they only need each person to sponsor 1 more out of that list of 100, and their team will grow to 4,000. That’s great for them, and that will be great for you when you’re in that position of leverage, but the bottom line is that you’re going to need to really learn how to market on your own and generate your own leads if you ever want to reach their position. The ironic part is that when you find yourself in that leadership position, you’ll be teaching your new guys to make a list of buy leads because that’s all a brand new person will know how to do in their first few days unless they are a seasoned Successful Networker. That’s why leaders are the only people who ever make money in this industry. That’s not sad, just a reality… And a reality that’s true for any industry in the world. Now let me say that mailing out some product CD’s to your warm market is PERFECT. It’s what you want to do, but that’s just your first step. Not your only step. There are smarter ways to build your business which is what Successful Sponsoring is all about. It’s about becoming the hunted instead of the hunter… So the first thing we need to do is define our target market: These are people who are ALREADY actively using or consuming what we are promoting. When I first got started with my primary company, I had just quit my full time job as a physician recruiter for hospitals and was waiting tables. As I started talking with my sponsor about how I should begin building my business, I had the brilliant (or so I thought), idea of going after other recruiters like myself. Some people use the term ‘Head Hunter’. Why not!? What better person to bring into the business than a professional recruiter! They have great phone skills. They’re not afraid to call strangers. They interview people for a living, and have MASSIVE rolodexes of top notch people in various industries. A week later I had found, and then purchased a list of 6,000 recruiters from around the country. I started making phone calls and mailing packets. Two months later: EL ZIPPO. NADA. NOTHING. I didn’t get it. What could have gone wrong with my brilliant master plan!? Well, simply put, you can’t sell a steak to a vegetarian. You can’t market a product to someone who does not have the desire to consume it already present. You can’t sell an opportunity to someone who isn’t looking for one, no matter how ‘perfect you think they would be’ or how much money you think they could make. The first rule of marketing, is to sell products people want to buy them. Pretty basic stuff, but you’d be surprised how often people get it wrong, especially network marketers. (You folks marketing video email, telecom services, and insurance – take note! You have been warned!) My lesson was learned and here is what I want to pass onto you today… In our industry, we have two target markets: The first is our potential business partners. This target market consists of one primary group of people: Other network marketers, or people who buy products and services related to building a network marketing business. That’s it. My best advice is to only market to people who are currently in network marketing, or who used to be in it. Can you go recruit your brother, neighbor, doctor, co-workers, or your Uncle Bob? Yes, but that should be a “by-the-way” activity, meaning that if you happen to run into them and peak their curiosity, great. But you should never, ever make those people the primary targets for your marketing efforts. Only market to other networkers. Why? Because these are the people actively buying what you sell! NOT business seekers! (Notice they are called ‘opportunity seekers’, not ‘opportunity buyers’? Network Marketers are ‘opportunity buyers’! A business seeker is nothing more than someone who filled out a survey and raised their hand to say “I would like to earn extra money.” That’s it… And that’s no different than me saying, “I would like to play professional baseball.” That doesn’t not mean I have the skill set, desire, and ability to actually play pro baseball. We are looking for people who are already playing the game, and marching to the same drum. We are looking for people who are already in the industry, believe in it, and who get out there and practice. Personally, I never buy opportunity leads anymore and if I were, then I wouldn’t market my primary business to them first. I’d market a front-end retail information product like Successful Sponsoring first. This will help me generate instant cash-flow to pay for the lead costs, and then help me determine who the series one’s are. Our second target market: Ok, our second target market consists of our product customers. Because most people are in a nutrition based opportunity, we’ll use that as an example. Most people would think that their target market consists of people who have health issues. That is true to a point, but we can get, and want to get more specific than that. How about people who have health concerns, and who actually spend money each month on health products… These people are your TRUE target market. Just remember the difference between people who simply inquire about your offer, and those who are already spending money on something similar. So how do you find people in these two categories? People who have acid reflux for example, currently buy prescription medication for it, and are between the ages of 30 and 60. If I have a nutrition product that helps relieve acid reflux, then those are the specific people I want to market to. Not my Uncle Bob. You can actually purchase lists with any criteria you want! Just go to the local library and ask for a copy of the “SRDS”. That is called “target marketing, and it’s the foundation of your marketing efforts. For network marketers, the most widely promoted source is genealogy lists - distributor lists of network marketers from their company or upline who have gone out of business or left the industry. Genealogy lists are good and bad. Personally I don’t use them anymore and neither do those who practice Successful Sponsoring. I’d like to thank Tracy Biller for bringing this knowledge into my life. Here’s where I differ from Tracy. He advocates cold calling genealogy lists. I didn’t get into MLM to make 100-300 cold calls a day. That’s what I did in my corporate days. Yuck. And I know that if I’m not going to cold call 100-200 networkers a day, I’m sure as heck not going to get my downline to do it. So, I found a way to get networkers to call me. (Hunted instead of the hunter), and this is what I teach others how to do in Successful Sponsoring. In the last 60 days alone, over 7,000 network marketers have contacted me. My business has exploded, and I didn’t have to lift a finger. It’s not hard to do. It just isn’t taught by your ultra successful upline because they want everything to be ’3rd grade duplicatable’. Whatever. That hasn’t worked for you yet has it? Exactly. And that’s why you deserve a successful system and leader to show you the ropes. So what’s the alternative to calling genealogy lists? The BEST way to reach other networkers is to advertise, …but you need to use “Successful” advertising or you’ll go broke faster than you can say “that was a big mistake’, trying generate your contacts. Stop wasting your time in the past
The typical person who is living in the past uses phrases like, how I miss the good old days, thing were easier then, I miss the good old days, and you should have seen me then. This is a one sided mindset that will keep you in the past. By changing the way you think and act, you can create a better future. In all the conversations that have been about the past, you rarely hear about what a person is doing about the future. Their thoughts are dominated by their past, no goals, no drive, no plan to better themselves.
To succeed in life you must live for today and invest in your future.
Why waste your time worrying about the past, thinking about what you could have had, when there is nothing you can do about the past. When your thoughts are in the past you create within yourself feelings of worry, fear, uncertainty and insecurity. You don’t have time to think in the past, thinking in the past will adversely affect your future decisions. You are one of two types of people, those that hang on to the past or those that live for the future.
Now the people who are living for the future have the I am mentality. They say things like I am doing this or that, I am going here or there, I am going to… Think of how powerful the words I am are. You say I am going here or there and your mind directs your body to accomplish that task. If you say, with belief, I am going to be successful! Your mind begins to set what is necessary in motion to become successful.

Time is of the essence
Time is of the essence
It’s shocking how we abuse our valuable and limited store of time. We should be spending it wisely and enjoying it wholeheartedly. Instead, how many times have we uttered the following words?
‘I need to kill some time’
‘Time is passing me by’
‘I’m pressed for time’
‘What a waste of time’
‘I don’t have the time’
And on, and on, and on…
Why do we waste our precious time? Why do we procrastinate or live in the past, neglecting the present? Many live under the misconception that we have all the time in the world. We haven’t given much thought to the importance of time. Like it or not, our time on earth will run out.
What should we be doing with our time? Should we be wishing our days away, living only for the weekends and holidays? We can’t afford to ‘wish our days away.’ Life is too short to wonder, what happened?
Shakespeare said “I wasted time, and now doth time waste me.”
Every second counts!
At the start of each day, you are handed 86,400 seconds, to do as you please. No mater who you are. No one, no mater who they are, gets one second more! We have to make each second count so that it benefits us in the future. Christopher Columbus, Isaac Newton, The Wright brothers, Einstein, Henry ford- they all had 86,400 seconds a day. They made the most of it. So can you!
Think about this. If you woke-up to a new day and were told that this was your last, how would you spent each second of it and how different would it be from the time spend on your previous day? We should live as though it were our last day, indeed it may be.
“If you don’t change tomorrow it will be the same as yesterday”
We must do what we don’t want to do today, so that we can live the way we want to tomorrow.
